Love this awful movie! Bronson must have been laughing all the way to the bank because the guy never stopped working, all through the 80′s he a movie out every year it seemed.

The Brave One and Death Sentenace are very good. As logical as these stories can go.

I sort of feel embarrassed that this even still up since I’ve come a long way since this review. FYI: Loved Death Sentence. Never saw The Brave One. Trailers made it look like a Death Wish ripoff more than anything but I may have to check it out at some point.

Kevin Bacon was in the 2007 movie Death Sentence, which was based on the direct sequel novel to the first Death Wish. It’s worth checking out. I remember seeing The Brave One, i think it was just a loose remake of the Death Wish premise.

Just watched it. In a word… Fabulous!

I think minimum death count is closer to 100. Seriously. Next time I watch it (and please God let it be soon) I’m keeing score.

Forget the ‘so-bad-it’s-good’ category. This is ‘so-bad-it’s-a-masterpiece’.

That’s a great shirt. I absolutely love this movie. We screened up here in New Hampshire over the summer as part of our guerilla drive in and had the audience in hysterics.

Death Wish 3 has become a cult classic over the years, One of my guilty pleasures and for x-mas I got a Death Wish 3 t-shirt from Rotten Cotton. Great quality!

I wasn't really into History of Violence but then again, I haven't really liked anything Cronenberg since Dead Ringers, and that was a long time ago. I was mightily disappointed that it was a comic book adaptation because I liked the subject matter and would have liked it better if Cronenberg had license to really take it in a direction that he was familiar with. His movies during his peak creative period had this Kafkaesque quality to them and History could have been one of those movies about mistaken identity and a man driven to protect his family in a situation without reason but the hokey source material (which I've read) falls back on comic book conventions with the inevitable scene where his true identity is revealed. The whole time I watched it, I kept hoping they wouldn't go there.

But they did.

At least Ed Harris was cool.

I was so stoked when I saw the poster for Death Sentence in the lobby of the Cinema and when they played the Trailer, I knew they would find a way to fuck it up. And sure enough, I’m sitting there at 2 pm on a Sunday- riveted- only to be thrown off by so many missteps. I mean, the baddest thing about these Gangbangers is their smoking habit. The kid stood about 6’5″ but sofffffft.
I can’t subscribe to Bad for Good sakes, but surely there must be a middle ground between Camp and Quality.

What were your thoughts on A History of Violence?

Dude, I saw that last week and was as confused as you. The circumstances are different but it looks like the same movie. There’s even a mugging gone wrong on the subway!

I have to admit. I’m really looking forward to it even if it does look very familiar. I’ll have to do a little research and see if this has some connection to Death Wish.

This day… this VERY day, I saw a trailer featuring Jodie Foster as the victim of a rape/mugging that resulted in the death of her significant other (Sayid from LOST). Then she got a gun and started blowing away muggers.

I was completely poised for the title to come up as DEATH WISH. It just HAD to be a distaff remake. But no… they’re calling this THE BRAVE ONE and are actually trying to pass it off as an original concept. Can’t wait. Can’t FREAKING wait.
