A Wizard of Gore remake, huh?
Jun 20th, 2007 by Bryan White
I used to get real pissed off about remakes but I’ve taken a much more laid back approach to this complete lack of imagination in today’s genre film making. It drives me out of my fucking mind that we, as horror fans, just can’t seem to catch a break and get some original material but I will say this about the Wizard of Gore remake: I’m listening.
I’ll put the breaks on for anything with Crispin Glover, and that includes Charlie’s Fucking Angels. He’s such a weirdo and I appreciate that. There’s nothing forced about his personality. I don’t feel like he’s trying to sell a lifestyle by being the person that he is. He’s just flat-out strange and in such a genuinely original way that I find it pretty alluring. I don’t know if 2001 Maniacs counts as a remake. I didn’t see it and from what I understand, it was supposed be some kind of sequel, Bloodfeast 2 was also supposed to be some kind of sequel. so I guess this is the first H.G. Lewis remake. Hopefully it fares better than those other two. Of Lewis’ movies, I think this was the one I liked the most so with a movie that doesn’t make any promises it can’t keep and an actor that I think it perfect for the part of Montag, I’m at least interested. I’ve got a few choice words for the people who perpetuate the cycle of remakes, but I’ll save that for another post.
If you haven’t been sold yet, Brad Dourif and Jeffrey Combs are in it, too. I guess it also has a bunch of Suicide Girls, too, if that’s your bag.
Am I just way behind the times? Did this just spring out of nowhere or has it been known for a while?

I’ve known it for a while. I’m going to a screening later this month. I’ll give you the heads up.
