david belle (leito) actually founded parkour .. some say along with his (long-time friend) cyril raffaelli (damion)
the guy who did it in the opening scene of casino royale is also a friend of david belle and one of the top parkour ‘performers’ in the world.
it’s gotten so popular now there is a game called ‘mirror’s edge’ in which the protagonist is a 1st person view of ‘performing’ parkour.

I forgot I had this movie until I came across this site yesterday and saw it listed. I decided to finally watch it and am glad I bought it. It’s a fun movie to watch. The plot is abysmal but that doesn’t matter much. I watch these movies for stunts, fights and such, not for deep plots. I don’t mind subtitles too much but what bothered me about this one is that I think they assumed the only English speakers who would watch with subtitles are deaf English speakers as I had subtitles for the elevator making a sound as it traveled, cars screeching, and a lady on the television speaking in French. It annoyed me to the point where I sucked it up and watching it dubbed.

I loved this movie,especially the throbbing techno opening action sequence. Parkour is very exciting onscreen, they even used it in Casino Royale. I’d love a sequal!

Parkour is to me much more interesting than other martial arts. It seems so relaxed, just like normal guys doing their job and then you see how they train and your kung-fu aspirations fly out the window. As for ripping off AOP13, every action movie rips off either that or The Taking of Pelham 123 plot-wise at least.

I think I saw some press photos of Cyril Rafaelli from TIFF wearing that suit, posing in some kung fu stances and, yes, he looks extremely bad ass in that suit. I’m really hoping they sequelize this movie (which I’ve heard is in the works) or Luc Besson turns out something else of this caliber.

Yeah, I saw this movie at the toronto film festival a couple years back. It was like nothing i’ve ever seen before, the action was so jaw dropping and utterly cool. I ended up seeing the guy who played Damien, who knows no english, walking out of pride and prejudice while I was waiting in line for Revolver(guy ritchies peice of shit). I hollered at him, and gave him the thumbs up, and he smiled and walked away. He was wearing a full black business suit which made him look like a bigger badass. Super cool stuff.
