Cloverfield has a name
Jul 26th, 2007 by Bryan White
Looks like 1-18-08/Cloverfield has a real title now. With the San Diego Comic Con happening right now, it’s only fitting that J.J. Abrams roll out the good news in front of the sort of people who are going to be shitting their pants over this movie until January.
As of now there is still no official word, but the image to the left is most likely the Cloverfield poster bearing the title ‘Monstrous’.
San Diego Comic Con goers get all the good shit. I have a couple of friends who go every year and come back with tales of whimsy and mirth, not to mention getting early looks at movies like Hot Fuzz and shit. Good for them. One of these years I’ll make it out to that show.
So there you go. Monstrous. We can stop calling it Cloverfield now.
Edit: Looks like I’m jumping the gun. Malache posted the Ain’t It Cool follow up that suggests the title is actually Colossus.

To Paraphraase the great John McClane:
“EEEHNNT!! Wrong answer Hans, Good Guess!!! Would you like to try Double Jeopardy where the scores can really go higher??!!”
“Hey folks, Harry here…. I’m on the 101 north of San Francisco headed for Eureka, Ca to settle in tonight - and while driving, I had a bit of a Eureka moment with a spy revealing that the below MONSTROUS poster is the first of 3 teaser posters that will lead to the TITLE reveal poster. First we’ll have “MONSTROUS” - next we will have “BARBAROUS” - then we will have “FEROCIOUS” - To me - these phrases are not even spoilers - but if you’re like me - if MONSTROUS is a headless Statue of Liberty - what images go with BARBAROUS and FEROCIOUS? — The title? Well, I don’t want to spoil it, so you should go ask, Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin!”
Which, as any good Dork knows is the name of the X-Men’s “COLOSSUS” !!
ugh there’s no way this will be another comicbook movie adaptation. I still am holding out that it will be a Cuthulu based storyline.
No… the last line of the hint “The title? Well, I don’t want to spoil it, so you should go ask, Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin!”…. That is the character from the X-Men Colossus’ real name. So therefore the name of the movie should be “Colossus”.
Oh I see. They just might title it Colossus but it wouldn’t neccesarily be about the x-men character. because I’m getting a bit burned out on comicbook character movies. I’m hoping if this is just a reinterpretation of the old japanese monster movie Abrams give us much more depth to it like he did with Lost. I’d like it be more of an apocalyptic style storyline like following the idea of mythology of Cuthulu. That would be creepy.
