Guest updates for Rock & Shock
Sep 12th, 2007 by Bryan White
I realize the folly of posting regional news on the World Wide Web but Rock & Shock is my bag, man. It’s my Christmas. I look forward to it every year. So here’s the skinny for those of you regional to Worcester, Massachusetts:
Rowdy Roddy Piper and Lloyd Kaufman dropped out for what are, I’m sure, legitimate reasons. Huge disappointment on both fronts. I was looking forward to a little meet and greet action with both of them. As a seasoned Sox fan, though, I reazlied that there’s always next year.
Dread Central is reporting some news that will console a few of us. Kane Hodder and Greg Nicotero will be attending in their place. Kane was at the first Rock & Shock that I attended back in 2004, but I didn’t have any appropriate Friday merchandise that I felt needed his signature. I realize the guy has been in more than just a few Friday the 13th sequels, but is there anything else the guy is synonymous with? I didn’t think so. As for Nicotero, being the autograph hound that I am, I have no idea what to have him sign. The guy pretty much picked up where Savini left off and is one of the three letters in what is probably the biggest special effects house in horror (KNB). Jesus, that’s going to be a tough one.
Dread Central is also reporting that Rock & Shock will announce a new special guest tomorrow and apparently it’s some kind of big deal because they wouldn’t allow Johnny Butane to break the news early. So check back tomorrow. I’ll probably post about it.
You know me.
Also, if you go to Rock & Shock this year, keep an eye out for me. I’m already planning on documenting the show for the site.

When is it?
October 12-14
Shoot me an email with details… I might wanna go on saturday if you’d have me, I have saturdays off.
And Type O…is playing… that night!!??!?! Talk to me Goose!!!
Well, myself and a couple of guys from the store are going that sunday but there aren’t plans to see any of the shows. You’re welcome to come with.
Ahh.. a fellow Rock N’ Shocker. I ran a DVD merch booth there (Poker Industries - lots of Asian imports) in 2005 and 2006. I probably sold you a few things.
Man, I look forward to R&S all year. I make it a point to drop by the Poker Industries table every time, too. Since they’re the only ones who seem to be selling anything remotely exotic, I make it a point to buy a few discs every time. It helps being a fan of Asian movies, I guess. Back in 2005 my wife and I went and were going over the table when two guys were looking over Battle Royale 2 and one guy remarked to the other that he never saw the first one and was going to buy the sequel instead. I piped up and told them both that it was a piece of shit and that they shouldn’t buy it. I look up and the two guys behind the table, presumably one of them being you, were shooing me daggers. I suddenly felt like a huge ass for killing a sale and instead talked them both into buying Oldboy, which I think they did.
This year’s R&S was this weekend and some unforeseen events this weekend prevented me from going. I was mightily disappointed. Charles Band was in the house and I don’t think he’ll be around again next year. I was really looking forward to a little face time with him and a photo journal of the event for this site. I guess it’ll have to wait until next year.
