God, I wish I were kidding. Manos: Rock Opera of Fate

Manos: Rock Opera Of FateIf you’re going to be in Chicago between the dates of September 28 and November 3, I urge you to check this out and return to me with the verdict. Good or bad, I absolutely need to know how a stage adaptation of Mystery Science Theater’s greatest triumph turns out. Plus it looks like Jaws and a Ghostbuster will be going head to head with Torgo, The Master and what appears to be Bigfoot. If that didn’t already sell you on it, it’s a god damn rock opera. In the same vein as The Who’s Tommy and Pink Floyd’s The Wall.

Manos: the Hands of Fate is probably the worse movie ever made. Up there with Troll 2. Except Troll 2 was entertaingly bad. Manos is just painful dull dagger to the brain. The MST3K version is the only way to endure it. Thank goodness MST3K 2.0 is now here with the Film Crew.

I would definitely agree about Manos. So depressing it was, in fact, that the guy who played Torgo killed himself. Without Joel and the Bots that movie would be intolerable.

Make sure you do, Leigh. This sounds crazy awesome.

As for the Yeti, I concede to Puppet Master. The color of the fur really makes the difference.

I saw this last night & it was really funny. Very clever take. They’ve got a narrator who gets progressively drunker as the show goes on & he realizes he signed on for such a bad show, somebody gets killed, and every night they replace the ending with the ending of another movie. Last night it was “Se7en” (really, practically word-for-word and it was actually good!) and I heard they did “The Wizard of Oz” and “Goodfellas.” Worth a trip!
