Last year HBO announced that with Mark Steven Johnson, responsible for both the Ghost Rider and Daredevil movies (not something I would be bragging about) they would produce a weekly TV series based on the monumentally sweet Garth Ennis comic, Preacher. Upon reception of this news, I passed out. Since the announcement, there has been shitloads of rumors about the project and nothing concrete, so don’t mind me while I add a little more fuel to the fire.
CHUD is reporting that HBO is courting several directors to helm the pilot episode. Among these are some extremely heavy hitters and some of them have me feeling woozy again. Robert Rodriguez, David Cronenberg, Brian Fucking DePalma, Danny Boyle and Alex Proyas are all said to be in the running. Boyle and Proyas can bail, but the first three, particularly DePalma (in the event that you didn’t catch my emphasis) have me reeling.
I’m hungry for real news on this front. There have been tons of rumors and I’m about ready for something like confirmed cast and director news and a date for the show’s production to begin. I want this so badly I can taste it.

I can’t wait for this. It’s one of the few comic books I have read and really enjoyed.

I am totally with you. I’m about ready to start receiving some actual news on it rather than rumors from solid sources. While reading it, I so badly wanted every issue to be an episode on TV and at one point the claim was that every issue WOULD be made into an episode until the series concluded. I don’t think that’s in the cards anymore but it’s about time we started getting more than just tidbits.

I CANNOT wait for “real” info on this so as soon as the facts come in post post post! This storyline is one of the best ever. Oh and by the way i heard somewhere that Samuel L. Jackson said that he wanted to play the Saint of Killers! Either him or Sam Elliot hands down.
