Midnight Meat Train trailer
Sep 27th, 2007 by Bryan White
I read about this movie being adapted a while back. When I was 13 I was obsessed with Clive Barker having just seen Hellraiser. His Books of Blood short stories were my favorite so it struck me as a little odd that this was being adapted for the screen since the entire short story might occupy about 45 minutes worth of script pages but the trailer suggests that they’re not even bothering with the Barker plot and instead taking the general idea and working upwards from there.
This also marks the first forray into American production for Ryuhei Kitamura who first drew attention from the horror community for his hyper-kinetic zombie action movie, Versus and then winning the director’s chair for the final Godzilla movie, Final Wars, to be made for the next 15 or so years. Ninja fanatics also seem to dig Azumi, which wasn’t bad. I’m still torn about how I feel about this.
Meat Train follows a down and out dude as he finds a deeper level of the subways that take him to a place where a serial killer murders train riders and butchers them like cattle. They fight, the killer is killed but then these monsters come out of the tunnels, eat the meat on the train and then make the bum their new butcher so they can keep eating. The trailer doesn’t really look like that’s what’s going on, but I suspect that the role of the killer in the movie is played by Vinnie Jones.

is this going to be a major motion picture release? or going direct to DVD?
It’s slated for theatrical release next year.
Speaking of Theatrical Horror Movies.. I think 30 Days of Night is gonna be great. It was a really wonderful comic book.
I’m kind of excited about this one. The short story was one of my favorites from Barker’s anthology, so I’m curious to see how it plays out on-screen.
I am looking foreward to this one as well, I just really, REALLY, hope they don’t butcher what is one of my favorite shorts from Barker. I seems when they take a short story and turn it into a full length film some meathead says” hmm.. the story dosen’t quite match up to all the filler we added.. hey! I know!! Let’s just change the story! It needs to be more current and trendy anyway.” And they yet another movie producer’s name gets drawn onto my list in orange crayon as I wear my mothers clothes and listen to Christian rock.. Umm, yeah.
Note: I was just kidding about the last part, I don’t really listen to Christian rock.
Yeah they screwed up one of his earlier stories Rawhead Rex. the movie adaptation was pretty bad. Clivebarkers books of blood were awesome. I also enjoyed his novel the Great and Secret Show (the original not the graphic novel)
