I loved Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance. It's so low key compared to the movies that follow. I also think that Joint Security Area, which no one seems to talk much about, was one of the most emotionally devastating movies I've ever seen. I'm a huge fan of this director. I'm looking forward to Thirst and totally passed on I'm A Cyborg But That's Okay. I keep flirting with buying it but I'm not sure if it anything I'm going to be interested in. Sometimes sounds great, sometimes sounds lame. Depends on who is reviewing it.

sympathy for mr vengeance (the first of chan wook-park's revenge theme trilogy) is a far superior movie although the hammer scene in old boy is untouchable....people should give that one a look

I got Oldboy this weekend... along with Deathwish and Death Race 2000. I watched half of Oldboy last night (but fell asleep because i drank too much wine). Thus far, its really fantastic. The movie moves at a nice pace, the fighting has great choreography, etc... I just dont understand who is following him. And why? But then again, I assume that is revealed in the 2nd half of the movie. I was really grossed out when he at the octopus alive.... that made me want to barf. I look forward to finishing the movie tonight.... As long as my girlfriend does not hog the TV and make me watch her crappy shows. Death Race 2000 was kind of cool.... but I only watched half of it. Was not really in the mood for campy Sly Stallone movies from 1975. Death Wish (on the other hand) totally kicked ass. I used to live in the same neighborhood he did (in the movie)... so I know what Riverside drive is like at night. Death Wish 2 and 3 are on the agenda.

Hey Brian,

Check out The City of Violence (S.Korea). I caught it here (Montreal) at Fantasia. Not as dark as Oldboy, but a lot of fun and all over the place. Reminds one of a mash-up of Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction. Definitely a pulp sense to it.

How's the baby?

Retro.. i sent u a Netflix friend request. Also, I just noticed you did a review of Big Trouble in Little China!!!! That is by far one of my most favortie movies of all time. I must have watched that movie 50 times when I was a kid. I had no idea it was John Carpenter.... I guess when I was a kid I had no idea who any director was. That movie is so badass on so many levels. The only part I hate, is the end. When the monster ends up being hidden on the back of the truck. I have not watched that movie in 10 years, but I will put it on my Netflix. Thanks for the review man!!!!
