More Lovecraft from Stuart Gordon in 2008!

Twitch reported yesterday some pretty sweet news regarding future projects from Stuart Gordon. Gordon came up making a name for himself adapting very difficult short stories by H.P. Lovecraft. They’ve ranged from out and out classics such as Re-Animator and From Beyond to well-meaning misfires such as Dagon. Even including the attempts that lead to mixed results such as the Masters of Horror episode Dreams In The Witch House, Gordon is one of the few directors who can adapt Lovecraft in a manner that works for the greater audience. He’s on the verge of breaking through to the mainstream but it’s nice to see that he can always go back and work on the material that got his career rolling the in the first place.
At the American Film Market it was announced that his next project will be Lovecraft’s short, The Thing On The Doorstep about the sould of a man who possesses the body of his daughter and, later, her husband.
It’ll be interesting to see how this one works out and how Gordon stretches it out to feature length since the meat of the story doesn’t really hit until the last third with the previous two-thirds containing a lot of exposition and background about the characters Edward and Asenath. Gordon will definitely be able to pull it off, though.

Groovy. RE-ANIMATOR is my fave flick ever, FROM BEYOND is great and I dug the s**t out of DAGON. Gordon and Lovecraft is a combo that has almost always worked for me (I wasn’t crazy about WITCH HOUSE).
