I am disappointed by the fact that after setting up the ball so well, other passionate lovers of a very special subculture haven't come along to spike the crap out of it. Shrug. I guess that it's just us Bryan. And since no one is watching I seem to remember a Saint Vitus album called Born Too Late being released the year I bought a Nissan Hardbody truck (1987-88).

Anyhoo. Just moved "Metal:.." to the top of my Netflix queue for viewing #3. I swear, I'll commit to going to the Wacken festival if you do. Rent The Duelists. I'm Harvey Keitel, you're Keith Carradine, and you sir, have been challenged.

I've been looking for a high res version of the full metal family tree to use as a desktop background. You want to talk metal nerdism with Maiden and Risk? How about me today writing bash scripts while listening to Saint Vitus? Things haven't changed a bit since I was 13.

A rare breed of metalhead indeed. Nearly a year and a half after this review was posted, let me be the first to say how much I really have enjoyed this film. I too am spawned from the 1980's metal scene. Are there any better memories than listening to Piece of Mind while playing Risk after school? No sir, there are not.

Dunn does something very interesting- He takes a "family tree" approach to the metal scene as a whole, exploring the history and controversies of the genre while throwing in several very interesting interviews along the way.

Good review. Good film. OK. I'm off to see Satyricon in NYC...
