It’s been a real long time since I last saw Student Bodies. I’m talking nearly 20 years ago, so I can only hope that it’s as funny as I remember it. Horror Spoofs are rarely very funny but for me and my friends, this one was on constant replay. Directed by a guy who wrote for TV and never directed again and starring a cast of people who never went on to do anything else (except for Richard Belzer, who plays the killer) Student Bodies got just about everything right when it comes to slasher flicks.
Twitch Film reported by way of DVD Drive-In that Legend Films has the license for Student Bodies and on April 1st will be making the movie as well as a gaggle of other interesting low-end video store gems available to the viewing public for the first time with a host of extras. Also on the block is is the schlocky dystopia flick starring Oliver Reed, Z.P.G., Man vs. Ants flick, Phase IV and the spooky horror flick The Sender from director Roger “Battlefield Earth” Christian.
I’m just happy about Student Bodies. It’s about god damn time.

Hey, Steve. A while back I started up a Myspace account hoping to tie this site into a social network, but something went horribly wrong, my acrcount froze up and their support staff couldn’t have cared less about fixing it. Myspace is a dump anyway. It’s Geocities, Tripod and Angelfire all confined into one sleazy space. Facebook, on the other hand, has a real contemporary feel about it. There’s some genuine sophistication about it which I think makes it more appealing to adults. I really just like the ability to bookmark my own posts. Booya!
Also, thanks for coming by, Viktor. Student Bodies is a damn riot. It’s a crying shame that more people don’t know about it.
For those unaware, DVD Drive-In is a pretty good site. It has an atrocious design that makes browsing a very tedious affair but they report on a lot of video store relics that I always wondered about in terms of DVD availability. I guess Sole Survivor is either out now or coming very soon. Can’t wait for that one.
