Coming soon to a theater near you. More from Wright and Pegg.

Twitch Film is reporting that one of my favorite production outfits, Working Title, have been contracted Edgar Wright for two more pictures and I couldn’t be happier. British comedy has a special place in my heart and between the Edgar Wright/Simon Pegg combo as well as Ricky Gervais, the latest evolution of the UK’s comic sensibility couldn’t possibly be funnier. Shaun of the Dead was an instant favorite. I’m talking all time here. It is pure genius. The follow-up, Hot Fuzz paled in comparison but by no means was it a bust. It’s just that I’m a bigger fan of zombies than I am of cops and robbers buddy movies.
Wright and Pegg will be at it again. The two picture deal actually entails a movie set in America featuring a cast apart from the usual Edgar Wright players. Baby Driver is said to be a more action oriented movie, but the real meat of this story is the Pegg/Wright collaboration, The World’s End, which is to be another toast to a still unidentified genre, much like Shaun and Hot Fuzz were. Could it be a salute to post-nuke movies?
I fucking hope so. From Twitch:
London. March 31. In an announcement today, Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner unveiled details of a new two picture deal they have signed with British filmmaker Edgar Wright, with whom they worked on the hit films “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz.” Wright has agreed to write and direct two projects for the London based production company, the first project being “Baby Driver”, a wild spin on the action and crime genre which will be set in the US. This will be followed by a project with the working title of “The World’s End” which will complete a trilogy of comedy films co-written with Simon Pegg in which they unite again to pen valentines to some of their favourite genres. The pair previously co-wrote “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz”.

These guys know how to do spoof. I was half way through my third viewing of “Hot Fuzz” when it hit me. Hot Fuzz is the best spoof movie i have ever seen. It has all the elements and scenes ripped from action films but exquisitely blends them into the story. In a time, when Hollywood slop like Scary movie and all the my _______ movies appear to be the rage, it is great to see truffles in the trough. I can’t wait!
My dad is not Judge Judy and executioner!
