Cinema Suicide

I consider BadMovies.org to be one of the most important cult movie sites running. It’s been around forever, first of all. The reviews are always funny and Andrew, the webmaster, is a really nice guy. But more important than that, what puts Bad Movies above other high-profile niche sites like Dread Central and Gorezone is the sense of community that Andrew cultivates with his site. Bad Movies transcends the usual self-interest of website promotion and has gathered the webmasters of many sites via the forums to become a cabal of righteous dudes. I haven’t been particularly active in that community over the last few months. Between work, home and catching up on four seasons of Lost, I haven’t had much time to watch movies, so imagine my surprise when Andrew emailed me to let me know that the Legion of Muck award was going to Cinema S for the second quarter of 2008.

I’m my own worst critic and it’s that sort of crippling lack of confidence that keeps me from submitting my writing to larger publications and keeping my articles within the safe confines of my own site. If I say something stupid and you guys call me on it, I can just tell you all to fuck off and we all keep on rolling.  It comes as a huge boost when one of my favorite sites sees fit to recognize me as one above the rest. So it is with great honor that I accept this award. I love doing what I do here and I’m glad that at least some of you like it, too.
