Check out these sweet posters for The Thing!

The Thing by Tyler StrouseWould you look at that thing? I love silk screened posters. I’m a real big fan of guys like Coop (early coop, his fat devil-girl porno posters turned me off big time), Frank Kozik and Sheppard Fairley. I even own an old Coop poster for a White Zombie show featuring Bettie Page in a bar with Robbie The Robot. It’s awesome.

Typically, I only see that sort of thing for rock bands playing at this venue or that, but these are being produced for The Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX. I would kill to have a venue like that around here. You know? Midnight movies, routine special presentations of awesome genre stuff, but this is New Hampshire which has the wrong kind of ripe-culture and not a single movie theater willing to take a chance on this sort of engagement.

The artist of the poster you see and others at Mondo Tees is a guy named Tyler Stout. Until now I’d never heard of him. Apparently he has also done posters for Troll 2 (Sorry, the Troll 2 posters are by Tim Doyle, Ed.), Big Trouble In Little China, the band Menomena (whose posters are awesome!) and a gaggle of others. Here’s hoping we get an Escape From New York poster next!

These are extremely limited. 100 were made and it looks like the sweet Dr. Zaius poster has already sold out, so get over there and get one while they’re still available. I already put my order in.

Thanks to Twitch Film for bringing this to my attention.

So bad ass. It”s already sold out. They also jacked up the price on that Big Trouble In Little China poster. Was $55, now $70.

Oh yeah, RJ. I was torn between that one and the one for The Thing. Next time I have some money to spend, I’d like to pick that one up, too. He packs a ton of cool characters into it.
