Nazis in spaaaaaace! Iron Sky.

Iron Sky

Is there anything funnier than Nazis?  Plenty, actually.  The pulpy possibilities of casting a horrifying, genocidal empire as the villains in your Indy-inspired action movie or your 30′s era sci-fi movie are endless.  Hogan’s Heroes proved that if nothing else, they were easy to make a mockery of and no one can seem to get enough of them.  I’m guilty, too.   Both sides of World War 2 are packed with all kinds of weird wartime legends about secret weapons and science experiments to hunts for sacred religious artifacts around the world.  So chalk another one up on the board.  Here they come again, this time from secret bases on the moon.

I’ve never seen Star Wreck, but I’m told good things about it.  Spoofs don’t typically tickle me so it’s not something I’d go out of my way to see.  This is the same crew, though, planting evil Nazi scientists and their war technology on the moon and coming soon to a DVD player near you, they’ll be returning to earth, accompanied by an oddly James Bond-ish theme song, to no doubt re-establish the reich on 2018 Earth.  I’m sure there will be complications.  The Star Wreck trailer looks a little cheap, but the visuals in the Iron Sky trailer are absolutely top notch.  You have flying saucers and moon bases.  Totally cool shit.  Check it out.
