It’s just that this little freak of a movie really charmed me.
For musical numbers just as bad, but insanely funny I’d recommend the “Chucky”-remake “Papi Gudia”.

Commando has some really boring spots that hurt it, entertainment-wise.

Don’t get me wrong; it’s an entertaining bad movie. It’d just be better with some serious editing, in my opinion. And the music numbers are really terribly dull for a Bollywood production. ;)

Amrish Puri isn’t a problem. He’s one of the better parts of the movie.

Some of the problems (besides it badness) you had with it aren’t problems anymore when you have seen enough Bollywood films.
At two hours and twenty it’s actually quite short for a Hindi movie, the musical numbers are mercifully short and few and far between, relatively speaking and Amrish Puri always acts and looks that way.
