Albert Pyun said in a post above:

Hi All,

Russell is right. When they suck (and I’ll be the first to admit some do) the films and filmmakers should be strung up and whipped (verbally of course).

[ALL of your film suck, Albert Pyun. And I bet you suck as a human being, also]

It’s not easy where I toil [stealing money from Guam. Yeah, that must be tough]
but do feel very fortunate that I’ve been given the opportunity to make films. [By looking the citizens of Guam in their face, and bold-face lying. That's a quality that makes you suck as a human being] If you check around you’ll find out that I’m known for walking off many films and I am considered a very difficult filmmaker for studios to to work with. [No one cares, Albert.] Every film I make features a battle. The real problem is the really shit films I’ve made like Ticker tend to make buckets of money and the ones I think are decent get buried. [Dream on.]

Such is life.

My commentary on Ticker was heavily edited. I was told it wouldn’t be and thats why I agreed to do the commentary. [It's called karma, Albert. The people of Guam were told a million things by you. All lies. That's why they gave you and your shady producer a loan co-sign.] But they edited out what really happened to turn that film into a turd. [Everything you touch turns into a turd. In fact, you are a turd] I named names, and actions, and the corruption…ugh…you have no idea. [We do on Guam. On 6/29/10 there will be a fraud trial here regarding your film MAX HAVOC: CURSE OF THE DRAGON. Names will be named. Talk about corruption. You know all about that, don't you?]

Anyway. Thanks for being fair which is all I can ever ask. [It's all we ever asked of you. And what did we get. Your fucking lies] I will keep trying to make a film that you’ll like or at least tolerate. [Dumb-ass. Why would anyone want to "tolerate" a film? Much less your films?] I have high hopes for “Road to Hell”. [Blah, blah, blah] Its got GREAT acting, beautiful dames and rock n’ roll. [Your films suck, so will this one.] Give it a chance…er…give me another chance. [Please do come back to Guam. We'll show you what "another chance" means.]

My best to you all! Thanks for the patience with me.
Albert

[Fuck you]

Albert Pyun has made some visually impressive films. I watched Radioactive Dreams recently, downloading a VHSrip and damn, as cheap as it might be and however lame I found the story... it looked cool. I've trying to get hold of his movies. Ever since I watched Mean Guns, which was amazing, and Omega Doom that was strangely luring, Cyborg was stunning (even more knowing now how it came to be), Blast was quite good for a Die Hard-alike, Adrenalin was a thrill, and Nemesis stunned me. I had the chance to watch Left For Dead, which was shot in my country, and while it was slow and melodramatic, it looked quite good.

He made some failures with Ticker (boring!) and Max Havoc (which wasn't bad per se but... it was an average ninja flick with some lame scenes). but overall, the guy knows how to make a visually-stunning movie.

Now, an interesting trend in him... he transitioned from rising actors (Lee Horsley, Michael Dudikoff) to kickboxers (Van Damme, Olivier Gruner) to bodybuilders (Sue Price, Rachel McLish) to past-their-prime actors (Christopher Lambert, Rutger Hauer, Steven Seagal). Now he seems back into rising actors (that didn't sound too good...).

Can't wait for Tales and I hope to learn where exactly in BA it will be shot.

Albert Pyun is a scam artist. What, we're suppose to be impressed that Pyun takes the time to come on these sites and "talk to the fans."

Hogwash! Pyun talks out of both sides of his mouth. Anything to get one of his lame films made. Check "Max Havoc: Curse of the Dragon." He robbed all of us on Guam to get that scam film made and has the guy even said he's sorry to any of us. No, of course not.

Now wait for Pyun to come on here and post a reply about how it wasn't his fault, it was all the producers fault, etc., etc. Producer John Laing and Albert Pyun lied to everyone they met on Guam to get "Max Havoc" made.

How is it you sleep at night Pyun? Wait, don't tell me: You sleep soundly.

I'm sure you do.

Hi All:

Thanks for each comment good and bad. I made a conscious choice to make films I wanted to see and that's not always worked out. Either I miscalculated, overreached on insufficient budget or simply had the film taken away and it was bastardized (Ticker, Adrenalin -- by Bob Weinstein, Nemesis, Ravenhawk , Captain America and on and on). I like to think I maintained some integrity by walking off the films but in hindsight it wasnt really fair to the viewer. They were left with a mess and had to pay for it. Since 2005 I've only done films I totally controlled so my budgets shrunk. But I think the films I've done since reflect, even with the mini budgets, a better and clearer vision. They won't be for all tastes but I honestly make films that I feel and not what will sell or be accepted. When I was growing up in the 60's, a great many experimental films and genre breaking styles erupted and each weekend was a film going adventure. I've always tried to reflect that influence.

Anyway, hope you'll lke "Road to Hell" and "Bulletface"...and it"s on to my sword and sorcery adventure, "Tales of an Ancient Empire". Look for it in March 2009.

Thanks to all for putting up with my good, my bad, and a lot of ugly,
Albert

"Why would everyone desire for every film to be reminiscient of eachother with only nuanced differences?"

I don't think everyone desires that; I actually spend a lot of time looking for unusual films. I still want them to be an enjoyable experience. When you get down to it, opinions on films are just opinions. If you like these films that's good, some of them just didn't work for me.

I have finished watching Left for Dead, and I have to agree that it's almost more of an experience than a film. In the end I kind of liked it even though I don't think I can recommend it to most people or call it a good movie. It's definitely a unique film and I'll have a review of it up on my site in the coming days.

And once again, I'd like to say I think it's very decent of Albert to drop by. Even if I'm not a fan of all his movies, he seems like a nice guy who puts his heart into his work. I'd rather see one of his unusual concept films that don't work for me than see another crappy Hollywood remake or a Sci-Fi original. I'll be checking out "Road to Hell" and "Bulletface" when they come out.

I've only seen the first Nemesis movie and I actually liked it quite a bit. The sweet cyberpunk art on the box is best draw for sci-fi fans and while it's schlocky, it's a good kind of schlocky.

I actually enjoyed several Albert Pyun films which others reviled such as Adrenalin, Crazy Six, Omega Doom, and Knights. I absolutely love the ambience of these films not to mention the changing pace and atmospheric elements.

Why would everyone desire for every film to be reminiscient of eachother with only nuanced differences? Pyun films such as Knights and Omega Doom while inluenced by others have enough strange individuality to set them apart regardless of their artistic value. They should, along with Deceit, be seen as more an experience than a cogent, or mainstreamed film. Does anyone really think that Deceit should be reviewed as you would Titanic?

If you are looking for orthadoxy, look somewhere else. There are more than enough Albert Pyun fans out here. I loved Invasion, Left for Dead, Mean Guns, Nemesis films, Cyborg, and eagerly awaiting Bulletface! Keep it up Mr. Pyun.

Hello Al, I am probably one of the most fanatic followers of yours. I think you have a very unique talent/style/ambience to your directing. An Albert Pyun film is almost instantly recognizabl and unusual. Those are some things that seperate you and god bless you for taking risks most others wouldn't.

Good luck on any future project, I'll always be waiting for another Alber Pyun film.
