Howard The Duck coming to DVD

Posted by Bryan White | Friday December 5, 2008 | News

There’s a lot of fan rumbling going on lately over the fact that Howard The Duck is coming to DVD. I’m very open minded about cult movies and I have a tendency to fall into each one’s groove and ride it until I find the qualities that make it such an endearing hit to the people that love it so much.  So much, in fact, that I ultimately become a fan of the movie. It happens 9 out of 10 times. I wish I could say this for Howard The Duck, though. I have tried so many times since I first saw it to revisit this movie and find something about it to rave about but I can’t.

I usually just fall asleep.

This wretched little movie appeals to a lot of people, though, and they can finally throw out their bootlegs and invest in a proper special edition, coming this March 10th. There hasn’t been any art released yet and the poster you see above is actually a bit of the teaser promotion (Howard was supposed to be the summer hit of 1986) but some specs are out:

  • “A Look Back at Howard the Duck
  • “Releasing the Duck”
  • News Featurette
  • “The Stunts of Howard the Duck
  • “The Special Effects of Howard the Duck
  • “The Music of Howard the Duck
  • Teaser Trailers

God help us.

I can barely remember Howard the Duck…I do think Lea Thomas had sex with a 6ft tall talking duck though and that makes it quality filmmaking. ha!

Yeah. There’s a scene where she and Howard knock boots but he’s actually more like four feet tall.

oh yeah you’re right…he’s short. well tall for a duck but short for a human. I guess I need to see it again anyways.

ok I watched it again. It’s sooooo horrible. The jokes are so lame and the whole duck in bed with Heather L. was so darn creepy. I absolutely hate this movie. Not so bad it’s good…so bad it’s dull.
I liked it much better when I was 9 years old.
