You couldn’t possibly bring anything new to the table with the premise behind Ink:
Ethereal forces of light and darkness, represented by agents of good dreams and bad dreams, struggle for the soul of an 8 year old girl, stolen in the night by a demon named Ink who is serving his own nefarious agenda.
How many times have we seen this fucking movie? Mirrormask, Labyrinth, Poltergeist, this is a very trusty, simple premise but I beg of you, check out this slick-ass trailer and tell me that I don’t know what I’m talking about. Sometimes a movie can ride on its own aesthetic merit and work out in a positive manner. Most of the time, though, the flick just falls flat, in love with its own production design. This is an absolutely creepy trailer full of art school visuals and urban fantasy run wild. I know nothing about the director, Jamin Winans but with a feature looking like this, I am very interested in their other features.
