Oh yeah! The Mercury Men!

I’d like to slap every jackass in the mouth who tells me that Twitter is for narcissistic hipster cocksmokers who think that blindly updating the world on whatever mundane thing you happen to be doing is the new way of the internet. I would not dignify any presumptuous asshole with a strike from my closed fist. And I’ll tell you why.

Through the magic of Twitter, which acts more like a giant chatroom than dozens of worthless Facebook status updates, I have made a lot of sweet connections in the media world and have found more interesting indie movies, contacts, trailers, etc. than I would have by scanning my feed reader daily.

Case in point, the trailer you see above. The Mercury Men is an upcoming web series from creator Christopher Preksta. Shot in the style of a 30′s/40′s matinee serial the series features pulpy plot and characters with a contemporary presentation. Beginning this fall, you can subscribe to updates and keep up with the series as it hurtles toward its conclusion. Here’s what it’s about:

Edward Borman, a lowly government office drone, finds himself trapped, when the deadly Mercury Men seize his office building as a staging ground for their nefarious plot. Aided by a daring aerospace engineer from a mysterious organization known as “The League,” Edward must stop the invaders and their doomsday device, the Gravity Engine.
