Trailer for Seductive Espionage: The World of Yuki 7

Seductive Espionage: The World of Yuki 7 is not a movie. It’s not a cartoon. In spite of what the trailer appears to be selling you, it’s a coffe table style book that goes to painstaking lengths to reproduce the pop illustrations of Europe in the 60’s and apply it to the Eurospy movie formula. If the art in that trailer is indicative of the end product, I am sold on it already. It gets everything right. Saul Bass style titling, a pitch perfect emulation of rear projection driving scenes. But it’s more than it seems. Artist Kevin Dart has created an entire mythology out of Yuki 7, an imaginary female variant of James Bond. The book pretends that she is the protagonist of several very popular Eurospy movies and then builds a whole world out of it, recounting tales of movie productions, premiers and box office performance. The book also features Dart’s wildly varying illustrations styles that also includes what looks to be an inspired combination of Bruce Timm’s sexy cartoon women with Jim Steranko’s crazy psychedelic experimentation with comics as pop art. I cannot wait to get my hands on this! The world needs a little more Eurospy action in it.
