If you like metal, you’re my friend! It’s a familiar battle cry, particularly in the realm of 80′s horror movies. I’m not quite sure why, either. Horror and metal seem like a natural pairing but aside from similarities in tone, a sort of catharsis from their extreme natures, they’ve walked mostly different paths coming together only in the 80′s and threatening to reunite recently with examples like Dark FLoors. In this week’s Weekly Bodycount column, which is now moving to Thursday publication, I explore the brief burst in the late 80′s when metal and horror came together to produce some really shitty movies.

Also, there is nothing ambiguous about it. Manowar are totally into dudes. At least that’s what I get from their hype-machismo vibe.

I loved how, in Rock ‘N Roll Nightmare, the devil (who sort of looked like a praying mantis) had minions that were like little claymation penises. Thor must’ve been on some excellent drugs when writing that script.
