The Killer Inside Me promo reel is: A) Brutal as all getout, and B) Not even remotely safe for work

To those of you sitting in your cubicle farms right this minute, a warning. This promo trailer for the upcoming adaptation of The Killer Inside Me, Michael Winterbottom’s next feature is really something. Take a cast of people typically associated with schmaltzy Hollywood fare (maybe with the exception of Casey Affleck), give them a script based on one of the most notorious pulp crime novels of all time and have it be directed by an unflinching and adventurous director and you have the ingredients for what will most likely turn out to be one of 2010′s most talked about yet little seen features.

The novel, which can be ordered here, is still a rough piece of work even with 57 years separating the now from its date of publication. A small town deputy sheriff, perceived to be a boring jerk by the public, is actually a cold, calculating psychopath with righteous skills for terrorization and a kinky taste for rough sex. Its dark and seedy subject matter is the model by which pulp noir followed in the 50′s up to today. In this adaptation, Casey Affleck takes up the lead as Deputy Sherriff Lou Ford. Jessica Alba winds up with a savage ass-whipping, seen in the trailer, as prostitute, Joyce Lakeland and Kate Hudson as Ford’s girlfriend, Amy Stanton. From the looks of this promo from the American Film Market, this is going to be a grimy, nasty picture.

    Gargus

Hmmmm. At first it looked like just some cheap, trashy, low budget attempt at trying to be some emotional indy hit but it held my interest and I was actually quite intrigued in it. I didnt finish it out of not wanting to spoil anything but it does look promising.

Why I like this joint, every once in awhile you really surprise me with something Id probablly otherwise never known about.
