Turkish [REC]. A trailer for ADA, Turkey’s first zombie movie.

I am well aware that the Turkish remake craze is a long dead beast, but I just can’t resist the urge to drop that old joke every time some movie comes out of Turkey. Turkish visitors to this site wind up getting bent out of shape in the comments about it, so I’ll pre-emptively apologize for any butthurt that may result. I am also well aware that Turkey has made many kickass genre pictures in recent times, like the completely sweet Son Osmanli and the beyond creepy Karanlik Sular (which actually came out in the 90′s). However, the first person perspect of ADA, Zombilerin Düğünü (which translates to Island: Wedding of the Zombies) looks an awful lot like [REC] or as we Americans saw it, the vastly inferior Quarrantine. What is it about? I don’t know. Looks to me like it’s a movie about people at a wedding fleeing from the hungry dead. What else could a zombie movie be about? This is also said to be Turkey’s first zombie movie, which could be an entirely true statement. News about Turkish movies don’t often hit the greater web so for all I know, this is, in fact, Turkey’s first zombie movie.

The trailer is characteristically vague of these first person perspective movie but what you do see of the zombies is pretty cool. I do have one complaint about these caught on camera/found footage horror movies: Who the fuck would run a camera in the middle of a monster attack? Even the most Youtube obsessed interweb narcissists (of which there are many judging by Encyclopedia Dramatica) would probably drop the video camera and stop texting long enough to run to safety before resuming their video blogging about Modern Warfare 2 or Lady GaGa makeup tutorials.

Just watch the trailer.
