2009 is quietly drawing to a close, gang. This means only one thing:
This year has been pretty kind to horror, sci-fi and fantasy so the upcoming ballot for The Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards is sure to be a tasty treat. We’ve had a ton of great movies and plenty of awesome genre television this year not to mention fiction and magazines. It’s going to be a tough call on all the categories. Thankfully at this point nothing has been announced and because of the public nature of this election, you, your friends, you mom, whoever, can be a part of the nomination process. There’s so much going on in the genres these days that it’s very easy for deserving competitors to go unnoticed. You know? It’s also easy for the categories to go to the same group of people each year. I was one of only a couple of blogs on last year’s ballot that wasn’t a member of the League of Tana Tea Drinkers. Thanks to Rondo, my morbid portrait now hangs in their vaunted halls between Max Cheney and Tenebrous Kate.
So get on over to the Classic Horror Film Board forum and hook up with their 2009 nomination thread. Everyone is welcome to have their voice heard and it makes Dave Colton and the rest of the Rondo committee’s job of compiling the ballot that much easier if everyone is throwing out ideas. It’s also a lot of god damn fun and I’ll tell you what: If you’re reading this right now and you don’t nominate Cinema Suicide for best horror blog, you’re not invited to my birthday party next year. That’s all there is to it.
