Not a movie buff. I've never heard of Uwe whatever his name is. Streamed it on netflix as a suggestion from them :headscratch:. Started watching and I couldn't look away. Love the awkward acting moments. BTW 2nd amendment doesn't exist everywhere bud-just look for the highest crime rates and you'll where. Good review-thanks.

Just watched the film. I wasn't fond of the cinematography and some of the violence was rather gratuitous, acting overall was decent, but the protagonist... antagonist actually, was well acted. Overall interesting movie, with some decent action and then some disturbing scenes of murder. But i am confused with the point of this film. I'm hearing its clever and meaningful, yet all i saw just a young man who snapped and decided to go kill people. Perhaps the film is a representation of our fucked up fantasties, or it was just a mindless movie, but i am open to the clear true point of the film.

Most of the people in this forum, I think, missed the mark with this one. It wasn't about the gore, violence, and 'action' sequences. It was about his viewpoint of society.

His friend was talking about how people need to live in harmony and stop caring about money and try and find ways to become a more perfect union. The main character doesn't buy into this philosophy of thinking. His main philosophy was 'survival of the fittest'.

I mean, honestly people, do you think there aren't people out there who feel the same way? The people who are in power and have money know that if/when the end of resources comes on Earth, that is all we become is animals. Bill Williamson knew/thought this and got to the punchline first. Our true skin will really show and the friend's hippie, "love one another and we'll all live happily ever after" will fall to pieces. It will become dog against dog and the biggest and baddest (and in Williamson's example) most cunning will be left standing.

There was a lot of things I found interesting about this movie but one that stood out to me most was that his mother reveals at the end that she was a psychologist. In our times we like to think that these are the kinds of people who know everything there is to know about human nature, human characteristics, our motives and habits; but the Bill's mother couldn't even identify that her son was a full-blown sociopath (not so much the antisocial behaviors but the complete lack of conscious) or what most people would have labeled him as.

This movie made me ask myself a serious question: what is the meaning of life? Another interesting aspect of the movie was how in the beginning, when he was simply working on collecting money, his parents wanted him to move out and get his own place. It wasn't until he said "I have decided to re-enroll in college" that his parents stopped nagging him. They told him things like, "you will feel so much better now that you have goals and dreams". But whose dreams were they really? How many of us have been that we need to have these dreams? From the time I was born there was this sequence that was implyed, or even more, BRANDED onto me; high-school then college, then get a job, then start a family, then work for your family to get them their "needs" (while simultaneously and subconsciously continuing the process), then retire, then die. But as I put in quotations before, what do we really NEED? We work have become slaves to our own invention of time. Only when we come back to basics do we understand that the only important thing in this world is survival.
