The beauty of Vertigo is that just about any of those books are screen-ready since so few of them have a heavy fantasy slant. Scalped, I've been flirting with for years. One of these days I'll pick up the trades. I'm over Y: The Last Man at this point but I'd LOVE to see 100 Bullets come to TV. It's perfect for the format. I'm also in love with DMZ. I want someone to make that one happen now. It's such an amazing book.

Going back a few years, though. I would KILL, to see some of Matt Wagner's books adapted for TV. Mage, primarily. It's easily the coolest fantasy book I've ever read but even moreso, I will not die happy until someone does something with Grendel and the entire Grendel legacy, including War Child and the anthology series that followed. FUCK! Those were good comics.

Great stuff. That Powers series sounds cool, I’ll have to check it out. Kind of sounds like it could be what Heroes failed to become.

There are some rich comics on the indie circuit right now that I’d LOVE to see adapted into Television. Vertigo’s incredible Scalped, not a hero piece, rather a dark look at organized crime on an Indian reservation, would be a an amazing show for a bold network like HBO or Showtime to adapt. Vertigo’s DMZ series would be cool for TV too, just a tad expensive. Vertigo should also forget about turning Brian K. Vaughan’s Y: The Last Man into a film with Shia LaBeouf *groan* and explore TV.

There are two other great (non-hero) comics being adapted for TV right now. Image comics John Layman/Rob Guillory series Chew (my current favorite) is being developed by some of the same people who are bringing Walking Dead to TV. If you haven’t checked this out, you should! It’s about a cibotaphic (psychic connection to that which one eats) detective named Tony Chu who uses his odd gift to solve crimes. So great! No word yet on where or when it will be appearing. There’s also word that Joe Hill’s (Stephen King’s son) IDW supernatural horror series Locke & Key is being adapted into a TV series by some heavy hitters like Spielberg, Orci and Kurtzman.
