The Halloween re-make was Ok, but like the Hills Have Eyes, will never measure up to the original which remakes will always be compared too. And rightly so. It’s comparing a great film with a watch able film.
The first Halloween film was about suspense, the re-make was all blood and guts. More like the numerous sequels of the original were (except Season of the witch, what the fuck was that about? like a really long episode of the Outer Limits).
Mutant cannibals living underground is nothing new (time machine, creep, decent est.) so if he does this he'll need to do something to set it apart.
Now how about a re-make of the 80's Flash Gordon? That would rule!

I'm not a fan of Rocky Horror and when someone dragged me along to see this, I didn't know what on earth I was getting myself into. I can't say I enjoyed it or that I would see it again or recommend it to anyone but I am happy to have taken in the craziness. But never again. NEVER.

I love that Jessica Harper, known best for this and 'Suspiria,' now makes albums of songs for children. Quite a change-up in careers. "The monkey has a knife, the monkey has a knife, heigh-ho, the dairy-o..."

Thanks for this. :)

I can't say I disagree with you, but I've come to terms with the fact that roughly 95% of the populace are disinformed, blissfully ignorant jacktards. I enjoy tons of crappy movies, but I enjoy them because they're crappy...not in spite of it. Hollywood is the throne of creative bankruptcy, and I'm OK with that. Someone has to keep the dolts occupied.

Here's a thought: how about listing the director or writer or at least provide a link to imdb or wherever we might be able to learn more about the film and/or buy or rent.

Other than that, rock on, keep 'em coming.

A lot of the time the people watching the remakes have never seen the original film- sometimes they're not even aware that it is a remake.

When the War of the Worlds movie with Tom Cruise came out, I can recall one painful conversation I had with a waitress who brought up the movie for some reason and said "I can't wait to see it, I hear it's about aliens or something!". She'd never even heard of War of the Worlds in any other context, and I couldn't bring myself to tell her about it. It was painful to me because I'm an odd kind of film snob and War of the Worlds has such a great story behind it- or maybe it just made me feel old. And I'm not really even that old.

It doesn't bother me if people go to the theater and enjoy these remakes or any other film, though. I enjoy plenty of crappy movies. It'd would be nice if Hollywood would stop being so lazy, but most of the time people don't come out in droves to see the original stuff.

I'm not really dying to see it. It doesn't sound bad enough to be entertainingly bad, or good enough to be good.

Still, given a choice between this and the remake of "One Missed Call" (which I thought was kind of crappy the first time around) or a number of other shoddy horror flicks that have come out recently, I'd have picked Mandy Lane.

Yeah, it was produced in 2006 and then did the festival circuit in 2007 when the Weinsteins bought it. Grindhouse, their big-deal genre offering for 2007 was such a massive failure domestically that it meant trimming the roster and selling off some of the riskier acquisitions in order to recover from Grindhouse. For that, they put Many Lane on the auction block. Some company I've never heard of owns it now. I guess they're shooting to release it later this year.

If you REALLY want to see this movie and have a region free DVD player, it's available on Region 2 DVD.
