I agree that this wasn't a new idea, nor was it "terrifying" by any stretch. I just thought that it was refreshing to see a movie that wasn't overly gory, yet still able to entertain and provide some thrills.

I did enjoy this film. But yeah it wasn't overly shocking or intense and people had made it out to be. Just an all around good thriller. Reminded me a bit too much of Panic Room which isn't necessarily a bad thing but not sure I classify this film as traditional horror.

Sorry--this one just didn't do it for me--I simply grew bored. Not waiting for something shocking or 'gross' to happen, but for something I hadn't seen countless times already (no, no, not another stalking through a floor under construction with plastic sheets hanging down from the ceiling!!!). Thought it was reasonably competent, but not once did it 'get' to me.

I was going to avoid THE STRANGERS on principle as I assumed it was the inevitable American remake (which apparently is still going to happen)--but so many people urged me to see it anyway--some of my frustrations remained, but I had to admit it did a much better job of ratcheting up the tension while it lasted.
