It's sequel was "Great Mazinger", then followed by "UFO Robo Grendizer". Ever notice how the sidekick "Lance" in Grendizer looked so much like Tranzor Z's pilot "Tommy"? That's because they were the same character! Quite a demotion! But you'd never know that from the US releases of the shows... Anyway, Taekwon V is basically a Korean rip-off of Great Mazinger, but the character is truly revered there. He's basically like Korea's Superman. A real national icon.
